Just some random reaction and thoughts regarding last night's episode based on a single viewing so far. Obviously there will be spoilers.
First? I finally got a HOLY CRAP moment again. I don't think Locke is dead or at least not permanently, but it did make for a great moment.
Yes, but where are the flying monkeys?
I know back when Ben showed up as "Henry Gale" there was a discussion regarding Wizard of Oz references. Now I can't remember what other ones there were. I'm just wondering how last night's ep with Jacob being "The Man Behind The Curtain" fits in with that speculation.
Also? Does this mean that Jacob has been controlling how and why people are brought to the island? I'm still not buying the whole idea that they're in purgatory, even if Young, Bespeckled!Ben's vision of his mother would seem to support that theory.
Dharma Initiative or "My dad went to a commune and all I got was this lousy gas mask"
So, is that the resolution that we're going to get for them? I mean, yeah we know where they went now, but that was a little...unsatisfying. Honestly, it feels a bit like the writers had some other grand plan that got changed for whatever reason and they shifted from Dharma to "The Others" and are sort of winging it from there. *sigh* I'm so cynical at this point.
Look ma, he grew a set.
It seemed like the old Locke was finally back and in action last night. In retrospect, his manipulation of Sawyer was even a glimpse at the first season badassness that freaked everyone out. One of the reasons I'm fairly certain he isn't dead is the fact that they keep setting him up as having a special connection with the island. That he some how has a deeper communication with the island itself. I think he, more than Jack, is being set up as some sort of Messianic figure. Just my 2 cents though.
I'm sorry, where was that paiting hanging?
What is the deal with people just not aging on this island. Specifically Richard in this instance. He was obviously on the island well before Ben got there. From what it seemed, he is one of the 'natives' even though Ben said that he'd brought all of the Others there. I'm just wondering how old some of these people really are. I'm also wondering what Richard's real role is, especially since he gave Locke the file on his father and Sawyer.
Dude! I totally got drunk with your dad.
Am I the only one who finds it amusing that Sawyer has now sat and had drinks with Jack's dad, Claire's dad and Ben's dad?
