Since I finally made an actual decision on what I'm going to be knitting for the Ravellenic Games, I thought I'd share the project here.

This is the pattern: Lace Ribbon Scarf

And here's a picture of the yarn I'll be using. It's GORGEOUS.

It's a silk, wool blend and soooo soft and yummy to work with.  I'll post more pics throughout the process. :)

So I actually had a good couple of days at work.  I'll probably go into the details in a later post, but suffice to say that they've helped put me in a good mood.

Other happy making things...

Kavan Smith is on Human Target tonight.  I'm definitely liking this show.  It's not one that I'll necessarily become fannish about, but it's good action/adventure fun.  Mark Valley is pretty easy on the eyes too.

I'm still working my way through the re-watches of X-Files and now SGA.  I miss these shows.

After mainlining the first two seasons of The Big Bang Theory over the weekend, I had an uncontrollable desire to dive deep into comics fandom again.  I just read the The Flash: Rebirth mini and am even more of a confirmed Geoff Johns fangirl now.  He won me over during a couple of panels last year at Comic Con and with Green Lantern and Blackest Night.  I never thought when I was growing up as a confirmed Marvel girl that I'd defect to DC later in life.  Now to hunt down all the Superboy return stuff and hit Golden Apple Comics this weekend.  Damn this is an expensive habit.

Oh, and I've started knitting a new hat!  Yay!

So I promised [livejournal.com profile] slb44 that I would post pics of my new 'do and the yarn I purchased while out today.

Here they be... )

Attempting first lace project at midnight after a long day? SUCH a bad idea.

On the upside, the pattern is easy and the chart is followable...as long as I actually follow it.

I decided to do this for the lace weight yarn. I'm doubling the size and making a stole/big ass scarf.

I uploaded some pictures onto Flickr so I thought I'd share with you guys as well.

Need I mention that these are not exactly dial-up friendly?

The first set are around the yard. The bougainvillea petals that were all over the porch from the wind and the actual bushes and stuff.

Random plantlife. )

The second set are just a couple of knitting pics. The first two are the sweater I'm working on and the third is the Malabrigo lace that I bought. I'm not sure the true color comes through in the pic on that one.

I have all this yummy yarn now and can't decide which project(s) to work on.

I have 3 projects already in progress:
A mini-cardigan which is almost at the point of trying on to see if I can separate the sleeves
A mistake rib scarf in Alpaca that I want to finish before the trip to Connecticut in a couple of weeks, and
A Clapotis which the Noro is kinda bugging me right now.

I was requested (read demanded) by a couple of folks at work to make mittens for them for the trip back East. (It's freakin' November people, not January. Suck it up!) So I have 3 weeks to do those, which should be plenty of time.

I also bought some Tweed Alpaca that I just want to roll around naked in for awhile...I mean I can't decide what to do with yet *cough*.

And finally, I have the lace weight Malabrigo that I want to do a stole/wrap with, but I can't decide which one. I'm leaning towards this, but as this is my first lace project I'm having trouble committing on that. Part of me says go the easy route and do another Clapotis, but I feel this yarn deserves more.

There are also a half dozen more projects I keep putting off, like some washcloths and several books I'd like to finish reading. But reading prevents me from knitting, so they're in a bit of a stand-off at the moment.

So, what's up with y'all?

Uh oh...

Those of you on my flist who are on Ravelry, did you warn me how time sucking it could be?? If so, why did I not listen to you?

I forsee much distraction of the yarn variety in the coming year.

Also? Happy New Year to everyone. Mine is starting off well so far. I'm getting things organized and accomplished, which feels really good. Next, I will be attempting to assemble my new TV stand. We'll see how that one goes.

Finally? 3 1/2 weeks until new Torchwood here in the States!!!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
