How did I not know about the deleted scene from X-Men: First Class??  If you've seen it, you know which one I'm talking about!  Like the movie wasn't slashy enough already.

Also?  I have to wonder how much coercion it took to get Fassbender to do that scene!

I'm trying not to be all emo about the announcements (and lack of announcements in some cases) that keep coming out for the DC comics reboot retcon SPARKLY FUNTIME RELAUNCH.  I must think of other things to keep from getting ragey and bitter at the moment.

First, I had a great time in Vancouver as always.  I was treated well and indulged for my birthday. :)  The weather was awesome (sunny and 70s all weekend), the people were awesome (Starbucks girl gave me a free Frapp when I mentioned it was my b-day), the hanging out was awesome.  I'd label it as 100% awesome aside from the minor hiccup of the Canucks whooping last night.  Yeesh!  [livejournal.com profile] tartary_lamb and I determined I was wearing the *wrong* Canucks shirt during the game.  Even though it's cute, it clearly didn't have the proper game mojo.

Second, I know I mentioned the squee in my previous post but X-Men: First Class was AWESOME!!!

Cut for mostly flailing but some spoilerish talk. )

I've been a Marvel and X-Men girl since I was in Jr. High. I won't say exactly how long ago that was, but Jean Grey had only come back from the dead once at that point. :)

I do want to see the new Wolverine movie. I'm all kinds of excited about it. The problem is that I'm WAAAY more excited about going to see Star Trek. I'm not even really a Trekkie girl. Sure I watched TOS and the subsequent series, but it was never what I would have considered one of my fandoms.

I can't help it though. The movie just looks so DAMN COOL. I passed the premiere in Hollywood on the way home and I was wishing I was there with all the pointy-eared folk and squee'ers.

So, anyone in L.A. interested in going next weekend? My roommate has dropped hints about us going with a friend of hers, but I'd really rather go with someone who will actually ENJOY the movie.

It looks like Joss' final issue of Astonishing X-Men will *finally* come out on May 21. ::wonders how to work a trip to comic book store in on the day I leave for London::

Behind the cut are a couple of the interior pages with just the artwork. I have to say, it looks like it should be a fun ride no matter what.

So I just got back from my local Barnes and Noble and while there I purchased "House of M" (a Marvel comics storyline from a few years back). I figured it'd be a good place to start coming out of the 40 year DVD thingy that I'm getting and it's a good way to step in without going hog wild (which is absolutely going to happen at some point).

The Barnes and Noble that I go to has a Starbucks on the 3rd floor near where they sell the graphic novels. They have an excellent selection of graphic novels, btw. So I take the book to the Starbucks counter so that I can buy some coffee too.

Register Guy: (looking at the book) That's good, but not as good as "Civil War". You should really read that.
Me: A friend just sucked me back in to reading comics again, so I'm trying to get caught up.
Hot Manager Guy "Francis": You should really read "Avengers: Disassembled" to get into that one. Then you can go straight into "New Avengers" which is completely awesome.
Me: *slight glare* Don't worry, I'll be back. *plots ways to kill [livejournal.com profile] crimsonquills kindly*
Register Guy: Oh yeah, and you should do "New Avengers: Illuminati" which will take you into "Civil War".
Me: Umm...thanks. I'm sure you'll be seeing a lot of me.
