The intent of these posts is to chat and have some fun and, sure, vent a little as required. Reasoned debate is fine, as always, but if you have to ask if something is going over the line, think carefully before posting please.
Normal board rules about conduct and behaviour still apply, of course.
It's been suggested that, if discussing spoilers for recent media events, it might be advisable to consider using the rot13 method to prevent other members seeing spoilers in passing.
The world situation is the world situation. If you're following the news, you know it as much as I do, if you're not, then there are better sources than scans_daily. But please, no doomscrolling, for your own sake.
A shout out to all in Minnesota who are doing a spectacular job of peacefully pissing off people in power (That came out more Stan Lee than I expected).
More of the Epstein files were released, and I've lost track of what is being released to distract from what because it seems to be a Möbius strip.
In what I think must be a first, Disney+ dropped all the episodes of their Yahya Abdul-Mateen II led "Wonder Man" series. One might suspect lack of confidence in their product in not even giving it a weekly release.
On the plus side, The Muppet Show special airs this week, and I think we all need something like that right now.
A documentary about the current FLOTUS also arrived to be greeted by reviews which were a gift to the sarcastic (My favourite remains "If they showed this as an in-flight movie, the audience would STILL walk out") and lots of photos of empty cinemas, though it did manage to get bums on seats in the US.
The Grammy's happened but, since my musical awareness rarely extends beyond oompah-bands and/or Himalayan throat-singing I don't feel qualified to comment.

neilgaiman_feedIt’s been a while since I've posted anything anywhere, but I didn't want to let any more time go by without thanking everyone for all your kind messages of support over the last year and a half.
I've learned firsthand how effective a smear campaign can be, so to be clear:
The allegations against me are completely and simply untrue. There are emails, text messages and video evidence that flatly contradict them.
These allegations, especially the really salacious ones, have been spread and amplified by people who seemed a lot more interested in outrage and getting clicks on headlines rather than whether things had actually happened or not. (They didn't.)
One thing that's kept me going through all this madness is the conviction that the truth would, eventually, come out. I expected that when the allegations were first made there would be journalism, and that the journalism would take the (mountains of) evidence into account, and was astonished to see how much of the reporting was simply an echo chamber, and how the actual evidence was dismissed or ignored.
I was a journalist once, and I have enormous respect for journalists, so I've been hugely heartened by the meticulous fact and evidence-based investigative writing of one particular journalist, whom some of you recently brought to my attention, who writes under the name of TechnoPathology.
I've had no contact with TechnoPathology. But I'd like to thank them personally for actually looking at the evidence and reporting what they found, which is not what anyone else had done.

It's been a strange, turbulent and occasionally nightmarish year and a half, but I took my own advice (when things get tough, make good art) and once I was done with making television I went back to doing something else I love even more: writing.
I thought it was going to be a fairly short project when I began it, but it's looking like it's going to be the biggest thing I've done since American Gods. It's already much longer than The Ocean at the End of the Lane, and it's barely finished wiping its boots and hanging up its coat.
And I spend half of every month being a full-time Dad, and that remains the best bit of my life.
It's a rough time for the world. I look at what's happening on the home front and internationally, and I worry; and I am still convinced there are more good people out there than the other kind.
Thank you again to so many of you for your belief in my innocence and your support for my work.
It has meant the world to me.

This 56-page annual came out alongside the 52-page JLE annual, while JLA and JLE continued their monthly schedule. A new Justice League Quarterly super-sized comic was in the scripting stages. Giffen and Dematteis were writing all of the above. And the premise of this comic is… “Ha ha, wouldn’t it be ridiculous if the Justice League brand were OVEREXTENDED?”
( I mean, imagine Batman or somebody declaring that EVERY hero was a Justice Leaguer! )

We’re celebrating what I think is really interesting about the original character and concept. I’m going back and reading all of the early Silver Age appearances from the first detective stories. I thought there was something with this character that can see into people’s minds, but has a truly alien perspective that even Superman doesn’t possess, that was really powerful and interesting. -- Deniz Camp

Jan. 31st, 2026 08:24 pmtropicsbear🦵🏽 Thursday was leg day at the gym and lord I'm still feeling it. My inner thighs scream in protest any time I try to move my legs.
🎨 Finished doing some more tweaks to my layout! Made sure the rainbow gradient's applied to all links (except tags and the entry interaction stuff), applied a hover effect where the link text goes white and there's a black background (because the zone in Sk8!), tweaked some fonts on my icon and tag pages, changed the main body font, and some other fiddly stuff I can't recall.
🀄 Played some mahjong with Mom and the sisters after lunch per Mom's request. Won 2/5 games \o/
🏃🏽♀️ Sister G is attempting to get me to go jogging with her and Dad tomorrow morning. I know I need to incorporate more cardio into my life but also am I capable of dragging myself out of bed to be ready to leave by 5:30 AM? Who knows.
Glocal Guardians: JUSTICE LEAGUE EUROPE ANNUAL #1 (JLI 51)

The Global Guardians have appeared often in JLI stories by now, but only as a memory, an abstract, nostalgia-shrouded ideal from which the devalued, brainwashed reality has fallen. “Bialya Blues” brings back a facsimile of the Guardians as they were, but said facsimile still won’t measure up to the memory.

Jan. 30th, 2026 09:44 pmyarn_harlot_feedI am in limbo – I just finished my SISC socks, they’re off the needles and gone for a bath, and I don’t pull the next bag until the 1st of the month so I’ve got the littlest of sock breaks. I’m working on that Craghill Shawl but it doesn’t have a deadline and I’m under-motivated. The rows are getting long and I think I’m into a cheaper thrill right now.
I am really, really motivated to make a baby set but the yarn hasn’t arrived (I think it might today) and once that happens I am all in on that, since the baby might have gotten slightly ahead of me there. I need to start a sweater for Elliot (he has a special request) but the yarn for that is en route as well. I was about to wander aimlessly upstairs and turn my attention to one of the multitude of projects I’ve put down over the last months, when I thought to have a look at “The Big Plan.”
The Big Plan
is far less fancy (or big, or trademarked) than it sounds, but like the Self-Imposed Sock Club (SISC) and The Long Range Planning Box for completed items, it’s one of my better ideas. You know how you’ll be minding your own business and you’ll see a project or have an idea or remember there’s an occasion coming up and you think “oh, I’ve got to get on that this year”. When that happens to me, I open my phone or computer and go to a note called “The Big Plan” and jot down whatever it happens to be. On there right now is a sewing project I don’t want to forget to get ahead on for next Christmas, and a note that a friend who makes soap could use some hand knit facecloths for her birthday, some ornaments I want to give as a Hallowe’en gift that it would be smart to make in the summer, that I need to gather pinecones for something else -whenever I see them through the year, and that (and this is that part that is relevant to this post) this is a year I have to knit and make another Advent Calendar, and that it would be super smart to knit a few of the ornaments each month so that it can’t get on top of me. (There’s also a note to buy the felt to make it when I see it on sale but that’s not as important to you.)
So- in this perfect moment of in-betwixt idleness, I’m going to fill my needles with a few of those little things and tuck them away (in The Long Range Planning Box, obviously) so that November Stephanie has only nice things to say about me.
If you’d like to play along, today I’m making a teeny hat and a maybe a tiny sock. I bet the baby sweater yarn is here when I’m done.
