Doing another countdown to squee.  Not because things are bad, jut because there should always be squee. :) (Although I do have the hiccups at the moment and that could use some Squee.

1) Suits started re-airing Season 1 last night so for the first time I have Harvey and Mike on my TV screen and not just my computer.  It also means that tonight they're showing "Errors and Omissions" which has adorable Stoned Puppy!Mike and "Good Boy".  :)

2) In one week I will be at the movie theater watching "Hunger Games".  My boss and I are ditching work early with a couple of friends to go see it.  We're all fans of the book and SO excited!!!

3) In two weeks I'll be in Seattle for Emerald City Comic Con.  I'm excited about hanging with friends and I'm excited because I finally get a chance to get a commission from Marcus To who is one of my favorite comic artists.  I'm still having trouble deciding what to ask for.  I'd kind of like one from him and one from Dustin Nguyen (another favorite) but I have they feeling they're both going to book up pretty fast.  I'm kind of thinking a Steph!Batgirl from one and a Kara!Supergirl from the other.

4) The day after I get back, the 1940 US Census is released to the public.  I know there's a look of puzzlement on many folks faces, but this is HUGE for a genealogy geek.  It has the potential to help fill in several gaps in my family tree.  (My understanding is that it takes approx. 72 years to release the census because, in theory, by that time any of the personally identifiable data will become obsolete.)

5) May 1 Suits Season 1 DVDs will be released. My joy for this knows no bounds.

6) May 4 AVENGERS!!!  I was originally planning to go to Vancouver for the release, but with all the other travel plans coming up, I'm not sure that's going to happen.  Hopefully I can find some L.A. fangirls to geek with!

7) Tentatively, May 29 through June 7th is Toronto!!  I'm still not 100% sure on the dates or the length of stay, but that's looking the most likely.  My birthday is tucked in there somewhere too. :)

8) June 14, SUITS SEASON 2!!!!!!!

9) August (can't remember exact dates) looks like I'll be doing a few days in Catalina with my mom.  Haven't been to Catalina in years and am looking forward to it.

10) ??????

Upcoming happy things...

I've pre-ordered my Season 1 "Suits" DVD and it will arrive May 1st. YAY.  Really can't wait for the commentary and Gag Reel on this. :D

Next week [livejournal.com profile] starshines will be hanging out for a couple of days and we'll be going to the Paley panel for Castle.  Yay visits and Yay Nathan Fillion!

In a couple more weeks I'll be hanging out in Seattle!  YAY!

Sometime in April and/or May I'll be doing multiple Disneyland trips. :)

It's looking like from May 29th through June 7th (dates are still approximate) I'll be in Toronto!!

There's also a chance of Hawaii happening sometime this year too!

YAY. *kermitarms!*

I was supposed to go out with [personal profile] leupagus and other fangirls tonight for booze and squee but I have a sudden case of the creeping crud right now.  Woke up sneezing and coughing this morning and now it's progressed into generally feeling like crap.  I just want to curl up in a blanket and OD on NyQuil.  I'm pondering finally watching "Sherlock" but I'm not sure if I'll be able to stay coherent enough to really pay attention.  Perhaps tomorrow.

I'd picked up fixings to make chili in the slow cooker, but I'm kind of wishing now I'd gotten stuff for soup.  Oh well, the chili should clear my sinuses out.

In happier news, I'm seriously considering taking a trip to Toronto at the end of May/early June.  It's Memorial Day and my birthday.  I keep saying that I should see other parts of Canada and I'm told Toronto is lovely and um...there may be a certain show filming around that time. *cough*

So if anyone on my flist has tips/warnings/things in general about Toronto they'd like to share with me, I'll take it.  If I do end up going it'd be for at least a week.  Suggestions on areas to stay in and areas to avoid staying in would also be most welcome.

Had a wonderful start to the New Year.  [livejournal.com profile] tartary_lamb [livejournal.com profile] crimsonquills [personal profile] barometry and I spent all New Years Eve and a chunk of New Years day watching the first season of "Suits".  Yes.  The entire first season.  We're currently blaming [personal profile] barometry for this (though I may have done the supplying of the actual episodes).  Prior to this we had been watching Season 1 of ST:TNG.  AKA "When will Riker finally grow a beard and stop looking quite as skeevy?"

I may now also be working my way through many a fic and glorying in the fabulously slashtashticness that is Harvey and Mike.

I also finally got to see "The Muppet Movie" yesterday.  YAAAAYY...*kermit flail*  It was just as awesome as I'd hoped.  And I'm really happy that folks had avoided spoiling me for a couple of parts.

Just another day here and then I head home.  May go out shopping tomorrow and pick up some stuff for the family.  I'm also in the process of getting all my tracking of things set up for the New Year.  I may put together a post on what my resolutiony type stuff is for the year tomorrow after the shopping.

Hope everyone else is having a good start to their 2012!

At the airport right now waiting to head back to L.A. Had a great time in Vancouver, as always. Waaaay too early in the morning though.

I successfully pimped [livejournal.com profile] tartary_lamb into "Revenge" and she returned the favor with "Downton Abbey". Yay for fannish pimping!

The weather was gorgeous the whole time, but I saw it was hailing back home. Sorry, apparently I took the sunshine with me.

In my never-ending quest to stay in Canada, I forgot my passport at [livejournal.com profile] tartary_lamb and [livejournal.com profile] crimsonquills place and had to go back from the airport to get it. Someone in the cosmos loves me because [livejournal.com profile] crimsonquills randomly woke up and checked her phone and was able to let me in. Yay for making my flight in time and no change fees. Boo for having to actually leave. This does mean that the two of them are never allowed to live more than 10 minutes from the airport.

So now I am loading "Once Upon A Time" onto my iPad for the flight and grateful there's free wi-fi and a close Starbucks at YVR.

Hope everyone else is having a good Monday.

I'm in Vancouver for the weekend visiting friends.

I went to Van Dusen Gardens and took LOTS of pics of the changing of the leaves.

Here's the link to the full set on my Flickr account.

So I've been playing with my new iPhone 4S over the weekend.  No, I'm not saying that just to brag.  As many of you are possibly aware, the new phones have an "assistant", Siri.  Where you can give voice commands for all sorts of stuff.

There's a website called $&#! That Siri Says . Naturally I decided to try some out.

A couple of the responses so far:

Me: "What's your favorite website?"
Siri: "You're not supposed to ask you assistant such questions."

Me: "Beam me up Scotty"
Siri" Wifi or 3G?"

Me: "Open the pod bay doors."
Siri: "Sigh"

I really can't see this ever getting old at this point.

Other fun stuff:

- In two days I'll be at Disneyland, Halloweening it up!  Yay.
- In three weeks I'll be in Vancouver um...End of Daylight Savings Timing it up!  YAY!

I'm bored at work and checking through my emails.  I came upon this.  I sooo want to go see this now.  For the link-phobic, it's an ad for "Bayside High School Musical".  It's a stage musical about "Saved by the Bell".  How can this not be AWESOME?

In other news, I was telling folks on my Twitterfeed last night that I've figured out the Canadians most recent wily plan to take over the world.  They're airing all the good U.S. shows up to a day early.  It will make everyone want to be Canadian.  Or something.  Okay, so I haven't quite worked out all the logistics of it yet.  But it definitely involves NCIS, Hawaii 5-0 and a LOT of Tim Bits.

This is my official "Congrats" post for the Bruins (and associated fans thereof).  I'm sad that the Canucks just completely collapsed and clearly gave up after the last game.

I will say that [livejournal.com profile] _thelostcity has been quite lovely and magnanimous in her triumph! :)

Now if the dumbasses who are rioting and burning shit in Vancouver would just behave.

Off to either watch or read some Steve/Danny to get my mind off of it. :)

Please with the not sucking tonight.

Also, hi everyone.  Will have more of a posty thing later.

I'm trying not to be all emo about the announcements (and lack of announcements in some cases) that keep coming out for the DC comics reboot retcon SPARKLY FUNTIME RELAUNCH.  I must think of other things to keep from getting ragey and bitter at the moment.

First, I had a great time in Vancouver as always.  I was treated well and indulged for my birthday. :)  The weather was awesome (sunny and 70s all weekend), the people were awesome (Starbucks girl gave me a free Frapp when I mentioned it was my b-day), the hanging out was awesome.  I'd label it as 100% awesome aside from the minor hiccup of the Canucks whooping last night.  Yeesh!  [livejournal.com profile] tartary_lamb and I determined I was wearing the *wrong* Canucks shirt during the game.  Even though it's cute, it clearly didn't have the proper game mojo.

Second, I know I mentioned the squee in my previous post but X-Men: First Class was AWESOME!!!

Cut for mostly flailing but some spoilerish talk. )

Okay, I was enjoying seeing various parts of Vancouver when the Olympics started. Now it feels more like a giant "HAHA! Everyone else is here but you!"

My true love is on TV right now. ::waves coyly at Vancouver::

Can't wait to see what they roll out in the "Canada for Dummies" that's sure to get presented over the next couple of weeks.

Go USA Hockey!

Spent today at Whistler with [livejournal.com profile] crimsonquills and [livejournal.com profile] tartary_lamb. In spite of almost freezing several parts of my anatomy off (mostly my fingers while trying to take pictures) it was an AWESOME day.

We took a bus up and then got a pass to go up to the top and take the Peak to Peak gondola. The gondola ride up the mountain was cramped to put it mildly. The Peak to Peak one was great. Much more room and we were able to enjoy the view.

There was no way we could do a round trip back to take a gondola down so we took the chair lifts. I thought I was going to completely freeze, but it was actually beyond cool. The scenery was just amazing.

We then made our way down to the town and sat and had drinks, ate and warmed up while waiting for the bus back.

It was a great day. I'm feeling a bit like I might have a cold or be sick, but I think that may just be from me needing to re-hydrate after the altitude. I've had issues with that in the past.

Here are a few pics of the day.

Finishing up laundry etc. before heading to the airport. Can I just say how excited I am that it is currently over 30 degrees cooler in Vancouver than it is here right now?

I had to haul long sleeved shirts and light sweaters out to pack. They've been in hibernation for quite a while.

I'm actually thrilled that it's supposed to rain while I'm there. I'm a freak. I know.
webbgirl: (XMen_Wolvie-Canadian)
It's icky humid out here today *and* I forgot my glasses at home.  This is not getting off to a good start.

In better news, Happy British Colombia Day to my Vancouver peeps!  (I might possibly have to come up with a better term than 'peeps' here.)

Fair warning that this will be somewhat pic intensive. Anyone on dial-up is going to want to skip.

Wished I could have stayed longer and that I didn't have to come back to L.A. Sadly, either my work or Canadian Immigration would have hunted me down.

I am sadly back at work today after spending an AMAZINGLY lovely weekend in Vancouver with [personal profile] tartary_lamb.

I'll be doing a pictorial about my weekend after I get home from work tonight. Sadly, the pictorial will also have a dark smudge on some of the pics. There's evidently a spot on the lense of my camera. This makes me not happy. I'm debating on whether it's worth having a place look at my 'okay' point and shoot. I'm considering just saving my pennies for an SLR instead. So irritated by this. I need a camera before Comic Con in July!!!!

A big 'thanks' to those of you who have shown your support for the LJ [profile] ncis_awards. I've had quite a few nominations come in for the Gen category over the past day and a half. I'll be spending a good chunk of tonight and tomorrow night contacting the authors. KEEP EM COMING!!
