It may be the lousy headspace talking, but if I see one more person refer to tattoos (Alex O'Loughlin's or anyone else's) as "gross" I'm going to lose it.  I get that not everyone like's tattoos, but referring to something that is essentially a form of self-expression and an extension of someone as "gross" is really getting on my nerves.

As somebody who has several tatts and is planning on getting more, I really don't get how anyone can find them gross. You might not like the picture that's inked or not want to get yourself inked but that's it end of story

I'm the same way. I don't think some people get how truly offensive it is to call something that personal "gross" about someone.

Yeah. I keep seeing folks commenting on various pics of how "hot" AOL is but his tatts are "gross". I don't think they get what they're saying and how offensive it is. Or at least I hope they don't.

And thirded. I have several too and I'm thinking of another one, admittedly they're all in places most people don't see that often, but then I don't get my kit of as much as AOL for obvious reasons! Still, it's my body and my business. Piercings aren't my thing, but if someone wants them, it's their choice and I won't judge.

That's my whole thing. I just don't get making judgements about other people's choices like that.

O.o?

I will admit to be utterly biased because I am a fan of ink, but Alex's are so beautiful that it boggles my mind that even someone who doesn't like tattoos would call them gross.

I know. I've seen it a few different places though.

(The words are a part of the pic.) I find tattoos attractive, (although I don't think I'd want them on my face, as some people do (I have enough trouble with my face.)) but I never consider tattoos gross. They are art. My art is very meaningful to me and is hidden (back upper left shoulder) because they are private to me and visible when I am with others who know their story. I find people's reasons for having tattoos interesting and unique.

Grow up, other people. OK?

I'm endlessly fascinated by the stories behind people's tattoos. Always have been. I always want to know why or when or how the choices were made.

I know there's still a stigma that exists around them though.

Agree... and just add my name to the list of those who have and want *moar*. Each of my tattoos have meaning to me(except for the eyeliner - that was done just for fun).

A tattoo is a personal choice for each person and I can't believe that anyone doesn't think long and hard about the choice of design, colors, and placement - unless you have it done on the spur of the moment while completely soused (then bad! artist). I have seen everything from tribal art, nature, religiuos icons, to even just a blue dot surrounded by smaller dots that represented the person's family.

While I personally do not care for total body art or facial tattoos, I do admire those who do it for what they are expressing. It is, to me, just another form of self expression no different than the choice of jewelry you wear or the cut and color of your hair or the clothes you wear or your make up choices.

Saying body modifications are gross offends me in general. That would be like me saying the boob job you got is gross (even if the girls look great)

Sorry for the ramble, just mho.

No problem. I'm right there with you. I just think that some folks don't get how personally offensive using words like that can be.
