Poor Kennedy family. First Eunice and now Ted. Neither were completely unexpected, but still...

Just realized that I never responded to this.

I've been ODing on the memorial stuff today. I realized that Ted Kennedy was really the person who made me realize that in spite of my conservative family, I was really a Liberal at heart. I'd always been fascinated with the Kennedy's as a myth when I was very young, but when I was a teenager and young adult, I realized that his call to include everyone was what I always wanted.

There's a scramble to get Mass to change the law quickly on how the seat will be filled. Ted Kennedy asked the governor to change it when he found out about the cancer. Hoping that it will get changed quickly. I've heard his wife has been asked to consider taking the interim seat.

I really hope they are able to change the rules, though I understand they were changed to their current state because the Democrats didn't want the Republicans gaining an advantage, which seems rather self-serving.

I listened to some of the ceremony this afternoon. It was beautiful.
