Because I was begged threatened intimidated strongly encouraged by [livejournal.com profile] meyerlemon to post something about Danny, I decided to do a little Photo Essay. Originally the idea started as a Contrast/Compare thing on Stern!Men vs. Bad!Boys. I found that I love both groups in different yet equal ways. So instead of a Death Match! I've decided on a "Can't we all just get along" Love Fest!

First, the Bad!Boys

Danny Messer of CSI:NY

Danny is the epitome of the Bad!Boy with a heart of gold. He's got a troubled past and he loves rebelling against authority. At the same time though, he's always trying to prove himself and win a measure of redemption. He also has a natural charm and flirting factor that just doesn't seem to quit. For a prime example of this? View the scene in Ep 2x03 "Zoo York" when Lindsay shows up at the crime scene. He full on Tribianni's her with a look up and down that just screams "How you doin'?". Yet, you don't get the whole sleazy, stalker vibe from him. *sigh* Oh, and the power of THE ACCENT cannot be overstated with him. (See "Risk")

Tony DiNozzo of NCIS

Ahh Tony. He does qualify as a Bad!Boy, but not quite so much in the rebellious way. Tony is the eternal class clown and flirt. He loves attention from just about anyone around him (clearly due to parental relationship issues). Just like most kids, he'll take positive or negative attention when he can get it. The thing is though, if one cares to take the time to get to know Tony they see that the 'X-Rated Peter Pan' is at least partially an act. (See "Kill Ari") He's great at his job and has instincts that are right on. He just tends to get to the answer a little differently than everyone else. (See...well pretty much everything.)

Mike Logan of L&O

Mike Logan is pretty much my original BIG bad!boy crush. I fell for him hard when L&O started. He was the young, brash cop with the Irish temper. Over the years he never quite grew out of that temper, but he still manages to get the job done and help those in need. He's very much one for doing things his own way and the ends justifying the means. He too has the rough childhood going for him and wants to be the champion of the underdog. He just tends to take his own way of doing it. (See pretty much all of Seasons 1-9.)

And now for the Stern!Men

Mac Taylor of CSI:NY

Mac Taylor leads the CSI:NY team. He's a very straightforward and yes, Stern man. He's a retired Marine which earns him HUGE sternness and hotness points. (See also, Jethro Gibbs.) He has high (almost impossible) expectations of both himself and his team. But he would do whatever it takes to protect one of them from harm or injustice. (See "Charge of This Post") Mac is a widower and a bit on the ummm...non-suave side when it comes to dating women now. (See "What You See Is What You See" and "Jamalot".) All of these things add up to make him that much more attractive. That and the fact that he's freakin' hot looking.

Jethro Gibbs of NCIS

Gibbs is also a retired Marine. He's been married 4 times (though that contradicts canon from earlier in the show). His first wife as well as his daughter were killed. We don't know much more about his first family than that at this point. He divorced his other 3 wives (or they divorced him). He doesn't have much in the way of positive comments when it comes to the exes, but he also admits himself that he's a Bastard. (He gets some Bad!Boy points with that one.) Gibbs is also very demanding of his team, but he knows that they all have their own way of doing their jobs well. He supplies Abby with her Kaf-Pow, praises McGee when necessary and headslaps Tony as appropriate. (Still not sure about the whole Ziva thing yet.) Unless you're a red-head (like yours truly *g*) or a certain Special Agent, you need not apply for relationship status here. Still, the blue eyes and salt and pepper hair are quite pretty to gaze at.

Don Eppes of Numb3rs

For me, Don is still a little on the young side for the Stern!Man group, but he does fit. Don is the head of his own FBI team. He not only takes responsibility for his team members and their safety, he also takes on the responsibility of his family. Don was engaged to a woman in New Mexico when he found out that his mother was sick with cancer. He returned to his family in Los Angeles to help care for her and support the rest of the family. Don's younger brother Charlie is a math genius who helps him out on cases. Their relationship helps highlight the Stern!Man factor in Don. Because Charlie was a bit of an outcast when he was younger (due to being 5 years younger than his classmates) Don had to shoulder the responsibility of protecting and caring for his kid brother. That still carries over into their relationship today. For relationships, well Don has never been very good at them. He tends to date co-workers or people connected to Law Enforcement *cough* former partner Billy Cooper *cough*. Because of his devotion to his job and his family, Don seems to be left as a very lonely guy. :-( ([livejournal.com profile] crimsonquills is currently fixing this in fic with her TNYC series. He matches quite well with Mac Taylor. See above.)

That's it for this love fest. I do have a couple of others which don't quite categorize so easily or I don't quite know them well enough yet. They'll get their own post at some point.
