Favorite Character Meme
Sep. 6th, 2010 07:36 pmMeme time! Here's how this one works, I give you five fandoms (presumably five fandoms I have some reason to think you know something about), and you repost listing your favorite character from each, with an explanation of why.
barometry tagged me for the following:
Doctor Who - This is actually an easy one. Donna Noble. I love Donna. Not just because she was a female companion who wasn't mooning over the Doctor and who was over the age of 30. For someone who'd led such a self-centered and somewhat sheltered life, watching her grow with the Doctor and have this wonderful sense of adventure was just wonderful. And while I believe the Doctor influenced her change, you got a sense that the spark was always there inside her just waiting to be kindled. Her departure as a companion hit me harder than any other. There were so many other ways they could have gone with that without crushing my heart.
Chuck - Hmm...I haven't watched Chuck in awhile so this is a bit tougher. My default though would be to go with Casey. Adam Baldwin tends to be my default favorite for any show he's on. Casey is the antithesis of the kind of guy I would want to be with, but somehow Adam Baldwin manages to make that hot and fun.
Merlin - Another one that I haven't watched in a bit. I'm going with Uther based on the first season though. That's at least partially due to ASH playing him, but there's also the fact that at the character's core he's a father who is trying to do what is best for his son and his kingdom. He gets it wrong, but you still see how much he cares for Arthur and wants him to be a good man as well as a good king.
X-Men (any canon or time) - This is the easiest of the bunch. Nightcrawler (Kurt Wagner). I started reading X-Men when I was about 12. While I loved and even identified a bit with Kitty, my first comic book crush was on Nightcrawler. I sooo wanted to meet a guy like him (fuzzy blue skin a bonus). I think that subconsciously he influenced my decision to take that year of German in high school. :) Kurt was this awesome character who balanced his faith with fighting for justice. He was someone who was hated and feared for his looks, but he still saw the best in those around him. My favorite arc for him was when he and Kitty were part of Excalibur. He became the defacto leader of the team when Captain Britain couldn't handle it. That was also one of the hardest arcs for me though because he was separated from Wolverine. Their friendship is my absolute favorite in the Marvel universe. They seem like two guys who shouldn't really mesh, but they get each other like nobody else. (And yes, I do have some slashy leanings with them. *g*)
