My lappy is now back in commission.  YAAAAAY!  I can Sims2 again!

I have a question for the techies on my flist.  Any of you have recommendations for good PDAs or Handheld PCs?  I need something for keeping my schedule, but I'd also like something to play MP3s at work and maybe play around on on the long train ride.  Any suggestions?

Oh, and there's a girl having some sort of meltdown on the phone in my office right now.  She's yelling at users.  So not a good thing.

I just bought (over the Georgia tax holiday) a PalmOne Zire 31 + 64k expansion card to do all my person information management and play mp3s of books. Circuit City had it for $123 on sale, which was about my speed. Color screen is about the only bell or whistle, but there don't seem to be a lot of price points between this and something like $300 for one that does whistle and toot.

I get distracted and sucked in a bit by the shiny, but I have really decide what all I'm going to use it for and be realistic about what I need.

How much were you thinking about spending? Dana just got a Tungesten something for around $300. It has that very cool new feature that if the battery dies you don't lose all the data. It is also WiFi enabled and we got a deal from Palm that included the WiFi card. It is very awesome. Oh yea, and it holds more music and pictures and fic than we've been able to put on yet.

I think I was reading about that one. I'm looking at up to about 400 or so. No set price. I like the whole WiFi thing. Music, pics and fic are all good things!

We love his, and Palm is always having special deals. It is so cool to be in a Starbucks and be able to pull it out of my purse and go online. It also makes downloading fic easier because you can save the page to view offline. No need to convert it to a document.

I used to have a Palm Tungsten E, but eventually craved more features (playing vid files, surfing the web, checking e-mail) and switched to a Dell Axim X30 (high) (http://www.aximsite.com/x30review/) Pocket PC. That may be fancier than what you need. The only things I don't love about it is the antenna has a flashing light (I put tape over it) and it's a power hog (bought an extra, extended life battery). Dell also now makes a version (X50 (http://www.aximsite.com/articles/link.php?id=200)) with a VGA screen.
