It's icky humid out here today *and* I forgot my glasses at home.  This is not getting off to a good start.

In better news, Happy British Colombia Day to my Vancouver peeps!  (I might possibly have to come up with a better term than 'peeps' here.)

Trufax: they have the same holiday weekend in Ontario, but here they call it "the civic holiday". The first few times I heard that, I was like: "but which one?"

So Ontario goes for the more generic term for the holiday then. Does that mean that BC is more boastful than Ontario? :) *Note to Canadian flisters from any and all Provinces, this is not a value judgement in any way, shape or form...please do not throw things at me...unless they are hockey players or Tim Bits*

Americans tend to be pretty specific about our holidays. To a fault at times. I think if we could genericize some, it'd be a lot easier.

I think it might be "the civic holiday" in a couple more provinces, but also "insert-name-of-province day" in a few as well. BC is definitely more boastful at least some of the time, though: witness the new license plate slogan: "the Best Place on Earth".

... I forgot it was even happening. Er.

In my defense, I was in a slightly different country at the time. But still! ;_;
