To Ship or Not to Ship

webbgirlI've read a couple of interesting comments regarding Chimera and Death Knell recently. As I'm in the US, I haven't actually seen either one of these eps yet, so I've chosen not to get into any of the discussions yet. I'm sure that I'll have plenty to say once I've seen the actual eps. This is more of a reaction to a comment that has been made.
I've seen the comment made a couple of times that if TPTB hadn't put 'ship' into the show, we wouldn't see the same emotional seens that we've had over the past few eps.
Grace. A shipper stated that would not have happened if there had not been the 'feelings' between Jack and Sam. So...does that mean that Jack's behaviour in Demons over Teal'c's "Death" or his attitude in Revelations after Daniel's ascension mean that Jack also has 'shippy' feelings for them as well? I've also seen Jack's "jealousy" in Chimera given as an example. So what does that mean regarding his reactions in Past and Present? For every 'shippy' example, I believe there are examples of caring and feelings between all combinations of the team-members.
I think that ascribing the reactions and feelings to 'shippiness' disrespects the team dynamic and other relationships. If 'Shippers' want to see these moments as shippy, that's fine, because I've seen just as many people who've described them as 'Relationship' moments. What I have a problem with, is saying that they wouldn't be there at all without the SamJack relationship.
