I'm going to watch this again along with TSE but

I loved the episode...right up until the last ten minutes. I hate that RTD fanwanked his way into Ten/Rose. I can get over that though. What I'm HATING WITH A PASSION is Donna's ending. She more than anyone deserved to have her memories with the Doctor. I hate that it feels like RTD couldn't come up with a better way to have her step off as a companion. The one plus of her going the way she did were the interchanges with her and clone!Ten.

Favorite sequence of the episode?

Sarah Jane: So there's three of you?
Rose: Three Doctors?
Jack: I can't tell you what I'm thinking right now.

Don't worry Jack. We were all thinking it too. Too bad Ianto couldn't have been there in person for the smorgasboard.

Oh yes, complete agreement on all accounts -- though I have to admit that I have the feeling that they might do something about the Donna thing in the future -- don't know why, because it might just be wishful thinking.

Ah well, it was still good, and I'm so with you on the Ianto line XD

I was thinking the same thing with Donna as well. Especially with her grandfather watching the skies. It just makes me sad to think that she lost all of that. I feel worse for her than for the Doctor being left alone again.

They needed a Tardis!orgy while everyone was around. *g*

I've heard rumors Sci Fi isn't going to cut this episode down to 45 minutes to fit into an hour slot. I'd almost be OK with it being cut down, as long as they cut out large portions of the Bad Wolf Bay sequence.

If they'd just left human!Doctor there and not forced in the talk with Rose and both versions, the shippers would have been happy and I would have been happy that maybe we could finally move on past this crap. That was like badly written shipper fic and painful to watch.

I was really leery when I heard Donna was going to be the new companion, because I didn't like her introduction, but she's become my favorite long-term traveler with the Doctor (of the new series). So of course she's now mind-wiped. But such "impossible things" are only impossible until they need it to be possible. Look at the returns of Rose, Mickey and Jackie, even though travel between our worlds was impossible.

I think the character I felt the worst for is Mickey, and I've felt that way for a long time. He was nothing but a prop for Rose for much of the series, and she treated him like utter crap. At her beck and call, yet she'd drop him in an instant when it was time to go.

I cheered when he saved the day in the parallel world and stayed to fight the Cybermen with Jake (seeing the cut scene from the end of that episode can make a girl dream *g*). He's a hero in his own right now, yet his reason for wanting to stay here now that his AU gramma is gone? Rose doesn't need him, especially with the New & Improved Doctor around. Mickey, you really deserve better. Maybe you will at Torchwood. ;)

I wasn't thrilled at the idea of Torchwood mostly being the Ex-Companions Club, but maybe it will work out for the best. I kind of like the idea of Jack and/or Mickey keeping in touch with Sarah Jane, even though the shows are theoretically pulling from opposite ends of the age spectrum.

She may not approve of Torchwood's methods, but I think it would be to everyone's advantage to at least share information. They could get some nice cameos or references out of it.

I had the same thought re: Jack's line. I also laughed at the Jack and Mickey reunion -- "Mickey Mouse" and "Captain Cheesecake." I also got a giggle thinking he told Jack no more hugging, because I mentally added, "Jake will get jealous," but now Mickey's left him behind. Dammit.

And Rose came out looking pretty bad, IMO. She went from faux-badass to whining about she wasn't in Harriet Jones's contact list (why would you be, you're dead in this world, you idiot), to getting what she wanted and still not being happy. Idiot. Once again, an obsession by TPTB regarding an unnecessary ship ruins so much potential.

Part of me wonders if the Martha and Mickey thing was more leaving the door open for them going to Torchwood than it actually happening.

I really don't get the reason behind Mickey coming back either. I did find it a bit telling that he told Jackie that he would miss her more than anyone. (Maybe something happened with his Jake and he's looking for this world's version. *g*)

I'm still not sure how I would feel overall about Mickey and Martha joining TW on a full-time basis. I would almost rather see someone who Ianto could spark with other than Jack. Not so much for the jealousy factor (though I wouldn't mind that *g*) but he needs someone other than Jack to relate with. I know he and Gwen seem to be building a friendship, but she has Rhys and Andy. Come to think of it, Andy would be pretty fabulous for hanging out with Ianto.

ITA about Rose. As much as RTD obviously loves her he can't write her well worth shit. I get the feeling that he sees acting like a lovesick teenager is normal or desirable in a main female character.

I forgot to add, ITA about the Bad Wolf scene too. If they would have just left it as leaving 10.5 there without doing the whole sappy and unnecessary scene it would have been much more palatable. I think Rusty missed the "Show don't tell" day in writer's school.
