Happy Holidays...blah blah blah
Dec. 4th, 2007 09:13 amI'm ready for it to be January now. All of these Torchwood spoilers that are being confirmed are making me bounce and squee like nobody's business. I waaaaaaannttt nnnnnooooowwww.
But really, Happy Hanukkah to those celebrating. It's going to be a lovely 78 degrees here today. WTF? It was in the low 50s a couple of days ago.
I am looking forward to getting to leave 3 weeks from today to go see
blueraccoon and hopefully
crimsonquills and
aureliapriscus. YAY!
Must buy more sweaters and knit more scarves.

on 2007-12-04 05:26 pm (UTC)The Torchwood news is something to make one want to just skip Christmas, isn't it? I'm curious to see if having some canon gay/bi storylines on British tv might influence American shows. We're finally starting to have a few, but they're still rather sexless.

on 2007-12-04 05:54 pm (UTC)I'm hoping we get more of a "life outside of Torchwood" view on all of the characters this season. I'm really hoping that the actual product ends up as good as the rumors sound when it comes to relationships. I don't even need hot, pervy man sex (not that I'd complain), I just want to see a nice gay relationship explored the same way they do with Gwen and Rhys.
Sadly, if some of the comments on the BBCAmerica board are any indication, there's a long way to go before that becomes mainstream on U.S. television.

on 2007-12-04 06:03 pm (UTC)I'm intrigued by what sounds like Rhys getting to know what really goes on at Torchwood, and maybe PC Andy too. That could make things interesting if they can bring in others as recurring characters.
I think one of the problems some American viewers had with the first season of Torchwood and the sexuality question is it often seemed "gay for the sake of being gay" and I do think I can see that point of view.
I'd like to see a real relationship play out, with all the ups and downs therein. I keep having this idea that it would be funny as hell if Jack was the one pursuing Ianto for a real date, but Ianto turned him down because he didn't think Jack was serious.

*cough* Is it wrong that I'd love to see Ianto turn Jack down because he's already got a date with PC Andy? Clearly I've been reading too much fic lately. *g*

on 2007-12-04 06:58 pm (UTC)About the season 2 stuff...I'm really wondering now how long Jack will have been gone once he's returned to the hub. I've seen folks say they think it's only a couple of days but I don't think there's enough empirical evidence to say for sure. I'm hoping it's at least a couple of weeks at bare minimum. Otherwise, any potential angst on the team's side is pointless.

on 2007-12-04 09:06 pm (UTC)I can handle a few typos and the like, but some are so poorly done I just have to hit the back button, even though the story idea itself is not that bad. A real clincher for me is if the author not only makes a comment about it not being betaed (which some good authors can get away with for short fics), but basically saying "Who cares about spelling and junk?"
I'm also curious about how long it's been since Jack left, but since he left in the TARDIS, there's no way to be certain. An even bigger question for me is if he's honest about where he went and why. Keeping secrets caused the revolt last season, so perhaps Jack will be more open now.
