Well, I'm back from Creation Con in Burbank. It was a great time. The guests where all wonderful and gracious. Creation was...well Creation. They lived up to their reputation.

Here are the highlights...30 day notice, Spa, Season Premiere, Beer, Ogling Sexy Men in Tight Pants, Hotel Security, Slowest Breakfast Ever, No Ticket, Parade of the Folically Challenged Men, Pool Time, Photo Ops, Desert, Brunch, Beer, Photo Ops, Beer, Chris Judge the one man laugh factory, Beer, Kissing Michael Shanks, Beer, Autographs, Dinner, Home.

For those who would like to know the whole story read on...(it could be a long one though) (okay after this weekend I speak almost completely in double entendres).

This, as all tales involving the [livejournal.com profile] fandom_nomads, involves hysterical laughter, alcohol, drooling over gorgeous men and hotel security.

Day 1 - Friday

About an hour before I was supposed to leave for the train Friday morning my roommate called me and told me that our landlord had just gotten in touch with her to give us our 30 day notice. We have to be moved by Aug 15th. Not exactly the news I wanted to start my fun weekend with, but I'm glad she didn't wait to tell me. I'd rather be prepared.

Anyway, I decided that since there was nothing I could do about that over the weekend, I'd try not to dwell on it too much. I headed for the train and up to Burbank. [livejournal.com profile] chocolate_haze picked me up at the train station which was across the street from the Con hotel. (You'll hear further rants regarding the *cough* lovely Burbank Airport Hilton later in this report.

After dropping my stuff off we headed over to the Burbank Spa. It's a great place. I got scrubbed, massaged and relaxed with a couple of the other [livejournal.com profile] fandom_nomads. It was sooo nice. We then headed back to the hotel, got some dinner, we watched the Season Premiere that [livejournal.com profile] aostara's lovely friend was kind enough to tape and bring for us. (I'll give a review of that in a separate post.) We were also joined by the Arizona adjunct of the [livejournal.com profile] fandom_nomads MJ and Joann. They're also big Richard Burgi fans, so we watched his episode of Firefly after the Premiere. Yumm that man looks lovely in a long leather coat.

Around 2 or so we finally got to bed. This was after we got a visit from Hotel Security. We figured someone must have heard us briefly when we were going between suites. [livejournal.com profile] chocolate_haze had specifically talked to the hotel about us having suites where we could party and not disturb others. Even Creation had posted on their site encouraging room parties. By the time they were done, the Hotel Security were apologizing to [livejournal.com profile] chocolate_haze. This is why we put her in charge of that sort of thing.

Day 2 - Saturday

We got up Saturday morning and went to the hotel restaurant. For a restaurant attached to a hotel that's across from an Airport and has a convention center, you would think that they would understand what people mean when they say they're in a hurry. Apparently not. The service was INCREDIBLY SLOW! The food was decent though a little on the pricey side. A couple of us did however, spot Peter Williams (Apophis) in the Hotel lobby when we were leaving.

We headed over to the con to check in. I had never actually received my tickets for the con, so I had emailed and called Creation. I was assured several times that all I would have to do when I got there was show my ID. Yeah...not so much. My name wasn't on the master roster. I ended up having to call my bank and have them confirm that the charge went through. Unfortunately, the little pin head at the bank wouldn't give Creation a transaction or authorization number even though they were a vendor and could give a confirmation code to the bank. The wonderful girl behind the desk finally said she'd take my word for it and I was allowed to go in.

I picked up my free Gold Pass gift, which is now affectionately known as the 'JackPlaque'. It's nice...but seriously no freakin' clue what I'm gonna do with this thing.

I got my seat in time for Carmen Argenziano to start. I've been a fan of Carmen's since he did an episode of JAG 6 or 7 years ago. He's a wonderful actor. He was looking quite nice in khakis a button down shirt and linen jacket. He'd also grown a goatee. Yum...I'll have pics to share later on that one. He talked about acting, being on the show and a play that he's going to be doing in a couple of months in the area. Sounds great and the Nomads are already making plans to go. He also said that though he's never met 'Pete' he thinks that Sam's getting up there in years and she needs to settle down and give Jacob some grandkids. He also said that he didn't trust Jack with Sam. Yeah, if I wasn't already in love with the guy, that would have sold me.

After Carmen was Tony Amendola. He was just as wonderful. He talked a lot about the craft of acting and you can tell how apssionate he is about it. He even did a mini-scene from Taming of the Shrew with one of the girls in line asking questions. I would absolutely love to see him in an entire Shakespeare production. He talked about being classically trained and how that can be considered a bad thing sometimes in Hollywood.

A couple of us skipped David Winning and Peter Williams (which I'm regretting a bit now) and we headed for the hot tub. It was like searching for the secret passage to Narnia just trying to get to the hot tub, but once we found it, it was well worth it. It was a hot tub and pool and since it was so hard to get to, it was empty. After hanging out at the pool, I went back to the room an hung out for a bit then headed over to hear Don.

It was great to see Don. He was a hoot and it was great to see how much he loved being on Stargate and that he's a bit of an emotional guy. He talked about being on MacGyver and how that got him his job on Stargate. He's also dropped quite a bit of weight. He said he was at 250 in S7 and now he's down to 205. You could definitely tell.

After Don a couple of us ended up watching part (most) of Suspicious River. This isn't a movie I ever really reccomend to folks even though MS is in it. He's a verrrrry bad boy in it and it's a quite disturbing film. For the short (very short) time he's in it though, he does a great job as an evil SOB.

Next came the Dessert/Cocktail Party. The celebrity guests showed up a little later than expected. The had been having dinner at the afore mentioned restaurant. Apparently the evening meals are served just as slow as the morning meals. They finally made it to the room we were in though. It was basically set up like a somewhat cheesy banquet hall.

David Winning was the first one at our table. He was soooo funny. Ann got a few Andromeda spoilers out of him and he had a lot of fun with out group. It's funny because most of the celebrities that stopped during the dessert and brunch asked if we were together as a group. Maybe it was the fact that we were all in pink. We eventually told most of them that yes, we were together and that hotel security was quite familiar with our presence (as is the case in most of our outings).

Next was Don Davis. He had talked a lot about going back to doing his artwork during his panel, so we talked to him a bit about that too. It was a lot of fun.

I believe that Tony was next. I got up to offer my chair for him to sit in and he offered to share it with me. *squee* Folks asked about his upcoming appearances (I don't want to get too specific since there were spoilers involved) and about him on the show in general.

Next was Carmen. [livejournal.com profile] chocolate_haze was kind enough to trade seats with me so I could sit next to him. He said he felt like Hugh Heffner with all the women sitting around him at the table. Ann made a comment about 'Yeah, but ours are real'. He laughed. He talked about the play he'll be doing and about not liking Jack as a match for Sam. *squee again*.

Finally was Peter Williams. Much hotter in RL than as Apophis. Since he was last his time with us was a bit less. He talked about Chris being the bad boy on set and that when he was on there was always a party in Chris' trailer. We saw evidence of that the next day. Someone mentioned Carmen's 'Hugh Heffner' comment and Ann's response. Peter said that he needed to check. All in joking of course. He was definitely the right fit for our group. During the photo we all took with him, he said 'Wow, they are real'. I don't think he needs Chris around to be a bad boy at all. We like that in a man.

After the dessert we went back and played some poker and then headed off to bed around midnight. We had to get packed up and checked out before the brunch the next day.

Day 3 - Sunday

We got to the front of the convention hall to line up for the brunch. I should mention that the middle of the Summer in the San Fernando Valley is generally a very warm time. It was 9 in the morning and already in the high 70s at least. Nevertheless, the folks at Creation made us (including several people with wheelchairs and crutches) wait outside. They could have let us in to the front area in the air conditioning since the brunch was in a separate room, but they chose not to.

Anyhoo, it took awhile for the celebs to get there again. This time they couldn't seem to track down Michael at the hotel they were staying at. They finally arrived and started hitting the tables right away. We thought we had gotten a good position (in the middle near the front) but we ended up being second to last for everyone.

Some of us at the table passed the time playing poker while we waited. While the celebs were going through, I noticed one of the doors at the front open. There were a group of people that stepped in slightly, but they were hiding behind one of the posters. One of the women took a microphone and started speaking. The room quited down so everyone could hear what she was saying. She was asking for Christopher Judge wanting to know why he hadn't returned her phone calls. Chris looked up and was a little puzzled for a moment and then realized it was his mother. His family was having a reunion in town that weekend and he was missing part of it. There was talk of everyone getting to see Chris' mother spank him for not returning the call, until she listened to her cell phone messages and he had indeed left her a voice mail.
It was a lot of fun seeing Chris interact with his family and he was having fun visiting with all the tables too. He looks soooo different than Teal'c. He smiles a lot naturally which, of course, is a big difference from Teal'c.

We were still playing cards and we tend to get a little loud while we play. Chris heard us laughing and came over to see what was going on. He took the deck of cards and almost started a game of 52 pick up with them. He did get a drink of beer while he was at the table. (Yes we had beer with us at the brunch. We're Nomads.)

Chris went back to the tables he was seeing, but then Michael showed up. He looked beautiful of course. A little tired though. He said he hadn't slept the night before and pretty much only ran near the shower. He was still a lot of fun. Especially when [livejournal.com profile] aostara mentioned how much we love his 'arm porn'. He laughed and said that he was going to have to write that one down. While Michael was making his way around the table for photos, Amanda came over. She ducked between [livejournal.com profile] chevron_nine and I. I kept poking [livejournal.com profile] chevron_nine because she didn't notice Amanda was there. She finally turned to me and said "What?" I pointed behind us and she jumped when she saw Amanda. Amanda jumped a little too. We got our pics done with her and then Chris came around.

I was happy that I got the chance to tell Chris how much I loved Changling. He's such an incredible writer and actor. I'm glad to see that he's happy in his work.

After the brunch we headed over for the photo op with Chris. We had decided to do a group picture with him. The way they had the chairs set up for the photo op left a lot to be desired. They had two deep arm chairs so that you were waaaay far away from the actor. Since there were 6 of us, Chris offered his lap for one person. [livejournal.com profile] frahulettaes readily sacrificed herself and dove onto his lap. The picture came out great, and Chris got a beer for his troubles. (Yes, beer is a recurring theme with us and it will become more important later in the story for me.)

After Chris' Photo Op was Michael's. We did a group photo with him as well, but alas no lap sitting. He also got a beer as payment.

We made it into the auditorium just in time for Chris to start. Chris came out with a glass of beer (wonder where he got that from) and kept claiming to have Turretts and that he couldn't control what came out of his mouth. Then from time to time he would remember his mother was in the room and he would have to censor himself on what he was saying. I went up and asked a question. "What was his favorite episode for each of the other actors" and we all had to introduce ourselves and where we were from. It was like being at assembly in school. [livejournal.com profile] gategrrl went up to ask a question and when she stumbled a little on part of the question, he asked her if she was shy. He took her up onstage with him and then proceeded to ham it up by using her camera to take pictures of her and others for the next few minutes. We were all laughing hysterically.

Chris talked about the flatulence on set and contests he and RDA have. He said that was pretty much his introduction to RDA on MacGyver. Chris' mother said that he's always been like that.

After Chris was Michael. Michael still had the beer bottle, but he had obviously finished the beer since the photo op. [livejournal.com profile] chocolate_haze still had one in her purse, so when I went up to ask Michael a question, she brought the beer up with her. Right before I was about to ask the question, she handed me the beer and went back to sit down. Sorry hun. When I got up there, I offered Michael the beer. He thought about it for all of 10 seconds and then decided to take the beer. He said that a beer deserved a kiss. Suddenly I saw a pair of gorgeous puckered lips coming at me and all I could think was 'I'm going to kiss Michael Shanks in front of a few hundred people'. Yeah. NICE. I kind of remembered my question after that and went back to sit down. I passed the kiss along to [livejournal.com profile] chocolate_haze since she was the one with the beer. He answered more questions, and I know that they're somewhere in my brain, but I really can't remember them now.

After Michael was Amanda. I ended up missing part of hers, but caught the end. She, Michael and Chris seemed to agree that she has a great ep coming up in S8 called Gemini.

Finally came the autographs, then dinner and home. It was an incredible weekend. Fun was had by all, and my lips will be forever enshrined after this.

I know it's long, but I couldn't figure out what to leave out. (There are actually a couple of incidents that didn't even make it in as is.)

You lucky, LUCKY gal you! ::sigh::

At the TCon, CJ got everyone to do that, "Hi I'm [insert name here], from [insert location here]." as well.
He had quite a bit of fun when one fan said they were from Regina. ;)
He talked about when he was at some club in Vancouver, the gal he hooked up with said she was from Regina, and he had to ask her "Well, isn't everybody?" *snicker*

Still floating a little from the lips of the hot one.

CJ definitely would have said much more if his mother hadn't been in the room. He had to interrupt himself during stories. One of them had to do with women at clubs who might possibly remove their clothes for some unknown reason.

I'm surprised you're coherent. lmao

One of them had to do with women at clubs who might possibly remove their clothes for some unknown reason.
*snort*

Yeah, this chat had to be PG rated too, 'cause there were quite a few kids around.
I forget what he was trying to talk around, that wasn't exactly PG rated, but when a 14 year old kid went up to ask a question, CJ asked him if he understood the prior stuff that was going on.
The kid had this long suffering sigh and said, "Yeah, I understand, but I'm not going to go there." ROFL!

CJ had a little girl up on stage with him for quite awhile and when he was telling the story about the women who *might* remove their clothes, he turned and asked if she knew what he was talking about. She said no (She was like 7 years old) and he breathed a sigh of relief.

I hadn't heard that about Chris' family. I did notice them when they snuck in through the door at the brunch.

I'm still floating from the kiss, though it seems a little surreal at this point. I do remember he had nice soft lips though. *sigh*

Welcome, I'm friending you back. Have a great time at Gatecon. I'm hoping to get to Comicon in two weeks to see them again.

Gawd, I'm SO jealous of you...not only for the kiss but for all of it. Seems like you had a great time. :)))

*sighs*

The inevitable question: what was it like to kiss Shanks?? :))
Did he have good breath? ;))) *sniggers*

BTW, I'm Jennix from the OS forum. ;)
I just realised how many nicknames I use and I have to write them somewhere...so that people can recognise me. ;))

Mind if I add you? :)
