Ok. For a cackle of a show in the genre tradition, you might want to try out Primeval. It's modern science meets dinosaurs meets temporal anomalies meets soap opera! 6 episodes in the first season, has been picked up for a second season, but like Dr Who and Torchwood, they're going to make us wait for it.
I have all 6 episodes, but I'm on dial-up for the next week or so, so you'd have to wait if you want it. *wails at the thought of another 6 days on dial-up!!!*
