There are things that bug me about this ep that I will get into at a later time, but can I just say GO DUCKY! I'm loving that he and Abby are clearly pissed with Gibbs for leaving in the first place and pissed that he expects to just come back and 'do his thing' when he feels like it.

I am, however, fearful of how the whole team leadership thing will work itself out. I really like Tony as a leader and frankly would like to see him put Gibbs in his place for that again.

We'll see how it goes by the end of the ep.

Loved Ducky not giving Gibbs any quarter. Let's hope things work out better for you in Mexico. And Abby's attitude when he insisted he wasn't staying. We'll see about that. and calling him 'Temporarily Reinstated Agent Gibbs'. And cuffing him, lol! ♥

I like the idea of playing out with them being pissed at him. He essentially abandoned them without a word. Granted there were somewhat extenuating circumstances, but it was still a selfish thing to do. He should be called on it.

Hopefully he will be, either on the show, or in fic. Or both!

I agree that there were extenuating circumstances the first time he went down to Mexico, when he quit: his disgust at the way the terrorist thing was handled as well as his memory being screwed up and his emotions running high because his memories of his wife and daughter were at the forefront. But when he left without even saying goodbye after he came back to help Ziva out? And the fact that he came back to pack up his house and it appeared that no one knew he was even in town? He was just going to sell his house and move to Mexico without a word to any of them?! That just totally blows.

Yup, another vote for Ducky telling Gibbs off.

I'm dissatisfied with this story arc. Bellisario truly fucked up a good thing, and the storyline is floundering to get back on track. They've messed up team dynamics-the thing that Bellisario said made his show different from all the others.

I'm kind of interested to see how it's going to go with Gibbs coming back. Hopefully someone will get him to shave that damned mustache sooner rather than later.

I will be disappointed if Gibbs simply slots back into place without any bumps along the way. I think it would be a nice change of pace to see Gibbs in a position where he doesn't have the upper hand for once. Where he's kind of struggling to figure his place out again.

That's just me though.

Nope, not just you. I just watched it and confess to being a tad pissed off myself. Don't mind the 'stache because I have a kink about facial hair, but the 'tude, I do have a problem with.

What's Tony in all this? Chopped liver? He's given the Boss job, which he's more than capable of doing, then in waltzes Gibbs whenever he feels like it to knock him off his perch. Not acceptable behaviour IMO and the Director should have only allowed him to come back as a consultant, not to head up the team automatically.

I know I'm doing a ra-ra thing for Team DiNozzo, but for all his frat boy antics, the guy can do his job. He wouldn't be there otherwise. Sorry, this whole thing over the last two eps has gotten me a little irritated on Tony's behalf. I know he's besotted, but this is his professional pride they're messing with. Not nice. Not nice at all.

I hope they'll be able to get the team back on an even keel (pardon the nautical pun) but with Tony's seniority enhanced by his time in the big chair. I really don't want to see Tony so acquiesent all the time in future, as much as he still has to learn.

That Master reference will have the Top!Gibbs BDSM writers in a froth LOL

Or, I'm just going to have to write some 'fix-it fic' to make it all better from my perspective!

I just wanted to reach out and hug both Tony and Lee at the end of the episode. Also? We'd better find out that Gibbs knew about Tony getting his own team before he just settled back in. Otherwise? He really needs to be taken out behind the woodshed.

I loved the line about 'I have much to learn Master' and Gibbs' little smile afterwards.

S.A. Lee aggravates me, but it's not personal. She just doesn't fit in, and the writers aren't even trying to fit her in or make her a "person".
She's just a distraction unfortunately. She's so stereotypical 'by-the-book' that I've been referring to her as "Agent Stick-Up-Her-Ass", and that's wrong I know.

I guess I'm looking at her more in terms of potential. She is annoying right now and I think on a meta level that the writers still aren't sure what they're going to do with her, so that's why they haven't quite fleshed her out yet.

I find her annoying as hell, but for whatever reason, I'm also finding that endearing.

Different strokes yadda, yadda, yadda.

I wanted to hug Tony. Lee, not so much. She kind of irritates me a bit.

Too right. I'm not looking forward to them not working together though, have to admit.

Totally agree with you about Tony. Gibbs left, Tony was the Boss, and apparently doing a damn fine job of it. Why should he have to give that up because Gibbs wants his old job back?

I'd almost rather they leave Team DiNozzo as is (though Lee I don't care about one way or another) and have Gibbs bumped up to Director. I know Gibbs would never do it though, as he'd want to be in the field and not dealing with politics, but it would also solve my problem of not liking Madame Director.

Though it does seem like Gibbs' memory loss has essentially retconned out any UST with Madame Director, since it seems now that he doesn't remember it, or at least not completely. Maybe TPTB got the memo that everyone hated the damned flashbacks?

Hmm. *nods* I don't like Jen much either, but I can't put my finger on why. Probably because she wants Gibbs, and he belongs fairly and squarely to DiNozzo ;o) I do agree about Tony's team though, the only one who seemed to be pining for Gibbs was Abby and they did have a sweet lil thang going - couldn't take that to the bedroom, mind, too much like incest for me *shudder*, but I can see why she'd miss him.

For Ziva and McGee though (also not bothered about Lee, although she hasn't had much of a chance to improve) they seem to take Tony's leadership without any problem at all. It isn't fair for Gibbs to keep coming back to undermine that and now he's ensconced back in his chair, who knows what's going to happen.

I could see some good fic potential though, with Tony and Gibbs going through a bad patch in their relationship. A lot of crap has gone down, with Gibbs leaving without saying goodbye (WTF??) then coming and going without telling anyone, and packing up his house. Much potential.

For me, it's because I hate that we get another woman in power, yet TPTB have to put in a current or former romantic/sexual relationship with a co-worker to "add spice" to the show. Why couldn't we have a new female (or male) Director who didn't have a prior connection to the others, except maybe they worked together in the past?

I know what you're saying, they can't seem to help themselves. They can't seem to help putting in UST between Tony and Ziva, they couldn't help themselves putting in UST between Tony and Cait, and Gibbs and Cait... *shrug* I don't know. Maybe it's a manwriter thing. It seems to happen wherever you go. The trouble it's caused in Stargate *rolls eyes*

The daft thing is, I don't think it adds any more tension than having a woman director would have to begin with. Except perhaps to undermine her authority and have Gibbs ride roughshod all over her (no pun intended). He would never have dreamed of treating the previous Director the way he treats her sometimes. He appears to have very little respect.

I still see Alan Dale as Jim Robinson from Neighbours. I'm watching S1 now and seeing him as Director of NCIS is bizarre!

I think my dislike of Jen comes from her lack of balls when it comes to dealing with Gibbs. She's written as such a lovestruck girly. Makes me irritated :o(
