EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
This blurb (it can't be termed as a review in any way shape or form) will resemble nothing coherent or orderly.
Lovelovelovelovelove Boss!Tony. He is just so good in that role. I really want them to continue with that. (If you know spoilers about how that might turn out I IMPLORE you not to share them here. I have spoiler-free flisters and am not seeking out too many of my own...yet.)
The scene with the coffees was just Gibbs/Tony LOVE. I really liked that Gibbs was smiling more too. I suppose that will go away once he's actually back. Yet another reason to want it to stay with Gibbs visiting and helping out. Plus I like that Tony is able to stand up to Gibbs in a way he never could before.
I also like the vibe with Tony and Sacks. It's a nice little rivalry.
Just so much love.
The one part I could have lived without was the picture at the end of the episode. Yack.
Oh and the Tony, Ziva thing? I'm sure it's going to turn out to be something totally random. Like Tony is teaching Ziva "American Idioms For Dummies" or "Film Appreciation 101".
So what did everyone else think??

on 2006-09-20 06:36 am (UTC)Thought the second: BWUAH PROBIE.
Thought the third: OMG MANNERISMS HAVE SWITCHED ABOUT.
Thought the Fourth: Gibbs looks MUCH HOTTER with the beard and the longer hair. It's like... Summer School, 20 years later.
Thought the Fifth: Is he have a heterolifemate relationship with the guy?

on 2006-09-20 06:40 am (UTC)LMAO! [Unknown site tag] said almost the same exact thing when we were IMing watching the ep.
LOVE the beard and longer hair. Scruff is a very good look on him.
I like that I hate the new Probie and that we're pretty much supposed to. She's such an ass-kisser.
I'm very excited about the season if it continues in this vein.

Ducky giving Tony a pep talk!
And if Ziva keeps this up, I'm going to be loving her full-time, instead of just every other episode like last season.
I have to say, though, Tony was right to wonder whether Gibbs was up to playing this game. I couldn't believe that they would just wander into that safe house without checking for booby traps, surveillance, etc. Very sloppy --especially for those two. I really hate it when TPTB sacrifice a character's competence in favour of a plot line.

*grin* Or maybe Ziva's giving him a private "shoe camp" to improve his hand-to-hand and lock-picking skills. And, was it just me or was EVERYONE looking very buff?
*hugs NCIS* (except for Sheppard. She gets a kick in her bony ass.)

on 2006-09-20 08:42 am (UTC)Is this how he looked in this ep? Because if he did, I could get down there and give Tony a run for his money!
Hubba.
Don't suppose this is downloadable anywhere yet, is it? Gawd knows when it's coming to the UK.

on 2006-09-20 04:27 pm (UTC)Hee! *grins* I adored the banter in this and other scenes. Tony and Gibbs had a totally different level of interaction going on this this ep. Which I've babbled about elsewhere, but I'm too enthused not to babble more. *g* You could see Tony sort of verbally poking at this new sort of interaction, finding his feet, and then just jumping in. If the season keeps going like this, I suspect we'll see a lot less dom!Gibbs and sub!Tony in fiction and more mutually aggressive bed wrestling. Yum. *g*

Yeah, I feel your pain. But then, these writers have never been too strong on plot. It's the characters we love. The plots we always have to wrestle into submission via the use of fanon and mental filters. *g*
Speaking of fanon, I can really buy Gibbs actually being off his game. I mean, four months in Mexico drinking and repairing an old house do not exactly keep the instincts sharp. As for Ziva, I was enjoying her not being uberperfect too much to care. *g* Although they then went back and turned her into superwoman at the end again. *rolls eyes* But I more or less liked her even if she was Mary Sueish. At least I know to expect it now.

And I think it's piano lessons. *g*

on 2006-09-20 02:10 pm (UTC)And Tim is becoming cool. ::loves::
I wasn't totally thrilled with the ep, the plot didn't do a thing for me, but I had so much fun watching the characters (Tony and
SlacksStacks! So cute!) that I didn't mind. The new proby was very fun, too. And "Black Lung". Hee! Palmer is such a dork. But a cute one. He's the kid I would have totally had a crush on in college.

on 2006-09-20 02:30 pm (UTC)Palmer was so cute with his leeriness over joining in with the rest, then being sold over by getting his own code name. He's such an easy dork. ;)

on 2006-09-20 02:27 pm (UTC)I'd hoped Gibbs saying he couldn't remember Serbia meant TPTB finally got on the Clue Bus about no one really liking all the damned flashbacks. Possibily even to the point of a weird sort of retcon of Gibbs not having much, if any, recollection of his time working with Madame Director. Guess not. [sigh]
I don't want to know spoilers, but I am curious how they're going to integrate Gibbs into the series on a regular basis, or if he's going recurring, at least for a while. I haven't heard anything about that in interviews, but you never know sometimes.
I like Tony in charge, because it's less likely he'll be the dumb!sexist!Tony that I don't like when they trot him out for a laugh. But if Gibbs comes back where does that leave Tony? Or for that matter, Tim? Both had promotions, so if Gibbs comes back, what happens?

on 2006-09-20 04:21 pm (UTC)Hear, hear. As much as I love Tony, I do get a little impatient with TPTB when they take the easy way out instead of actually spending a little time on the hints of richer characterization that we see in Tony.
But, like you, I'm worried about how the power structure will be arranged when Gibbs returns. I'm currently hoping for something like two teams with one being mostly off screen/recurring (more regular characters means less screen time, after all), or Gibbs being some sort of consultant, or Gibbs being an independant investigator who keeps calling on Tony's people for back up but who Tony is equal in rank with or something like that. *chews lip nervously* I'm totally unspoiled, so I'm totally going to be dying for the eps to see how this works out. *g*

on 2006-09-20 07:15 pm (UTC)I'm really hoping they don't just reset back to Gibbs being in charge like he always has, because it wouldn't be logical nor good for the characters.
They had a similar situation with "Without a Trace" in which the boss (Jack) was preparing to move and take a job at another office, with his subordinate (Viv) set to take over his job, but he changed his mind due to marriage problems. Which left Viv pushed back down to her old job. This bugged me a lot, and it probably doesn't help that I like Viv a whole lot more than I do Jack.

on 2006-09-20 11:46 pm (UTC)Yeah.
So far I've been plesantly surprised by TPTB's attention to characterization. I mean, they're awful about continuity (there's a great rant about this on the Gibbs/Ducky community that I really must bookmark), but they've spent way more time on character stuff than most cop shows do these days. On top of that, they've handled several things--notably, Kate--much better than I've come to expect from TV.
So I'm cautiously optimistic. But really, we won't know until we see the ep.
And if they fuck it up, well, that's what fan fiction, fanon, and mental filters are for. *g*

on 2006-09-20 06:27 pm (UTC)I did mention something about them having the same kind of vibe as Gibbs/Fornell. I'm so excited about how this is looking so far.

on 2006-09-20 06:54 pm (UTC)Me too. My show is back! *clings to my show*
Now all I have to do is survive the Mustache of Doom. My brain, in cooperation with my muses, is valiantly trying to overcome the block it has again the mustache in porn. *g*

on 2006-09-20 06:58 pm (UTC)Now I really want to do an icon with the 'stache that says 'Bow Chica Wow Wow'. *hee*

on 2006-09-20 10:06 pm (UTC)I can handle the scruff as seen in Shalom. It's what comes later... *shudders*
It make help if Tony mocks the 'stache. Either to Gibbs's face or not, I don't care. *g*
no subject
on 2006-09-20 10:17 pm (UTC)I'm choosing to believe (until further proof) that Gibbs keeps the scruff.

on 2006-09-20 11:10 pm (UTC)Far be it from me to rain on your parade. *grins* Scruff does grow fast. And really, that scruff was only a couple days short of 'stache length.
*quietly hoping he shaved smooth for filming*
