Question:  (and not completely snarky)

There's a debate/discussion/frenzy that started amongst some of the Sam/Jack shippers because Amanda Tapping had the audacity to defend Pete at the con in Pasadena last weekend.  She likes the character, she likes the actor.

Why does it matter so much to the shippers.  There are more than a couple who are convinced that she hasn't actually seen the episode.  Otherwise, she would know how heinous he was.  Others want a debate with DDL, Pete's actor.  WTF???  Like he's going to come to some sort of epiphany and say...'Oh, yeah.  I see why you hate my character now.  Go ahead and lynch him, shoot him, boil him...whatever you want to do.  It's okay.'

I just don't get why they care so much if she hates the character or not.  Grr!!

There are SOME shippers out there who still want to string Amanda up (in a manner of speaking) for daring to make anti-ship comments in an article a few months back.

GASP! How dare she! She only ... brought LIFE to the character for seven years! What the hell does she know!

I love my Sam. :) And I really love my Sam/Pete. Pfft to those who have problems with Pete, I say.

I saw a couple of posts where people were (somewhat) seriously talking about trying to sit down with Amanda and show her the episode. Have they considered the possibilty that she might have actually seen the episode and she still doesn't think he's a stalker? What does that make her then? Delusional?

Anyhoo...I made sure and told AT when I was in her autograph line that I love Pete and that I'm a total Sam/Pete Shipper. I love that she got to smile in that episode. None of them get to smile all that much.

She even said, in a recent interview with Gateworld.net, that she didn't consider that at all stalkery. People just want excuses to HATE sometimes. :( If it doesn't fit in with their reality, it shouldn't exist - y'know?

well its obvious isnt it - Pete is ahuge threat to the Sam/Jack shippage therefore any true shipper in their right mind will want him to die horribly. I feel sorry for poor old AT but admire the fact that she stood up for the Pete character.

I suppose it's comparable to the more 'fanatical' slashers who expect MS to endorse their work. It's all fiction folks. The actors are doing a job. It doesn't really matter what they think.

Jack/Sam shippers need to realise that there's _nothing_ in that pairing. Sam/Pete is tons better. J/S has been forced and I don't see that changing. Shippers can be aggressive when their ship is threaten. Let's just let them be idiots.

See, you have to understand that most Sam/Jack shippers only want the world as they see it, not as it might be viewed by anyone else. Once you understand that it's simple. The rest of us can just go pound sand as far as they care.
