webbgirlSo while I was in Vancouver I was forced facilitated into the viewing of "Suits". I knew that chunks of my flist had gone happy for the show, but I'd put off watching it. Mostly because I didn't want to get sucked into another fandom at the time. I was quite happy with Hawaii Five-0 and tend to stick to one fandom at a time.
Anyway, after an all night marathon with friends I was completely sold. I've been enjoying several other of USA's shows for the same reasons I enjoyed Suits. The characters (both male and female) are smart and well developed. Even the "bad guys" tend to be more than one-dimensional.
Not going to lie, the blatant slash between Harvey and Mike doesn't hurt but my enjoyment of the show is so much more than that. It makes me laugh and even pulls at the heart from time to time.
Because "Suits" went over so well, I decided to give "White Collar" a try. I'm half-way through first season (unfortunately I have to fit work in with the viewing this time) and I'm loving it for all the same reasons. It's smart, I like both Peter and Neil (and I LOVE ELLE), it's made me laugh out loud several times. The one downside is I can't bring myself to fully slash Peter and Neil unless it's an OT3 with Elle. Did I mention my love for her?
So...anyone want to share their squee on "Suits", "White Collar" or other USA shows? Any good fics or vids you'd like to rec?

on 2012-01-11 04:50 am (UTC)The relationship between Neal and Peter is so layered and intriguing. And the show is so smart. It just throws references at you and assumes that the audience will get them. I just love it.

I'm so with you on the the "smart" part. It doesn't assume that it needs to explain things to it's audience.
