I keep thinking I'm going to post something totally thinky or whatever about the WGA strike, but it hasn't fully coalesced in my brain yet. Let's just say that L.A. is in for a loooong winter this year.
In similar, but totally different news my company is 're-prioritizing'. This means that they'll be re-alligning and outsourcing jobs. I'm feeling relatively safe right now, but who knows how it will go. I will say that the changes they want to make are smart ones in the long run. They're changes that they should have made a long time ago. We'll see what happens.
In solidarity with my writerly friends, I have a whole list of things to do and watch other than network television for the next while. Okay, truth is I'd have the same list anyway.
crimsonquills has delved into the wonderful world of Marvel with Steve/Tony (Captain America/Iron Man). This made me all nostalgic for my X-Men comics. I'd been toying with the idea of diving back in for awhile, but given the depth and breadth of the X-Titles it's a bit daunting. I did however buy myself the DVD of "40 Years of X-Men". This should keep me busy for awhile and lead me nicely into Joss' run.
I have several old issues of Uncanny X-Men, but I like the idea of having the run on DVD.
crimsonquills may also be not so subtley trying to sway me into the world of Steve/Tony. For lo, I am weak.
While at BASCon, I may have also been swayed to the idea of finally watching Due South. I just need to get my hands on it (after refusing copies from friends for who knows how many years). I make no promises as to where my Ray preferences my lie.
On a related but totally random note, I've decided that a movie version of the Excalibur comics needs to be made and Max Beesley needs to play Captain Britain.

on 2007-11-09 11:40 pm (UTC)At least it will keep me busy while all of the shows go into reruns during the strike.

on 2007-11-10 12:55 am (UTC)My regret is that it has none of the spinoff titles. In some cases, this is fine, but I'd love to at least have Claremont's issues of Excalibur and The New Mutants safely digitized while my originals get slowly eaten by silverfish in the garage.
Okay, who would be the rest of your Excalibur cast? (And if you say Jessica Simpson as Meggan, I may have to get cross with you.)

on 2007-11-10 05:48 pm (UTC)For Meggan I was thinking maybe Ali Larter from Heroes. She's kick-ass enough, but I think she could do the whole wide-eyed thing too.
For Kitty, I'm thinking Alexis Beledel. I think her personality would fit. Though, for the kick-ass Ninja!Kitty I'd go with Eliza Dushku.
For Rachel, Amber Tamblyn. She can do dark and strong. Though, I would never wish the mullet-do on her.
For Kurt, that's a tough one. While I understood the casting of Alan Cummings for X-2, I thought the character was much darker than Kurt overall. Hmmm...OOO. There's a German actor Moritz Bleibtreu that would be really good.
For Allistar, maybe Matthew Rhys.
I'd have to get back to you on Courtney/Saturnyne or anyone else.
Okay, I really want to start reading the books again now.
