I'm alive, hot and tired in San Diego.

First day at Comic-con was good. I went to 2 1/2 panels (got in for the last half of the Richard Hatch/Battlestar Galactica panel and then stayed through the Rosario Dawson one so that I would have a decent seat at the Torchwood panel. Rosario Dawson's comic sounds really cool. I'll find a link later when I'm not borderline comatose.

It was crowded, but nothing like it's going to be on Saturday. They've sold out this year for Saturday, but I'm not sure what the max capacity is. Lord it's going to be sweaty in there.

Saw several folks dressed as Jack Harkness and there was a cute girl Ianto too. She must have been roasting in that suit though.

The Torchwood panel was pretty cool. They showed a cut down version of the premiere ep and had most of the good parts. Clearly a significant chunk of folks in the room have seen the show already. One woman made a comment to the panel that we all have the same clairvoyant dreams. Luckily someone did mention that a lot of us who have these 'dreams' also buy the DVD sets. Noel Clark seemed to feel a bit better about his royalty checks at that point. *g*

He was an awesome panelist. Just the right combo of flirtiness and responsiveness to the questions that were asked. One person brought up the race discussions that have been happening on LJ (I'm fairly certain that the majority of the question askers are LJ folk) and asked for his thoughts on how Mickey was treated. I really liked that he answered the question without being dismissive of the issue. He said that he believes that Mickey's story was right and necessary to bring him to the point of being a hero at the end. He said that Freema would need address her feelings on whether she saw any issues with Martha.

Oh, and we found out that there will be no censorship cuts for the BBC-A airings. Chris Chibnal said he confirmed it with the BBC folk this morning. They'll still do minor time cuts (somewhere around 2 to 4 minutes) to fit into American format, but that's it. (Not sure if that means they won't be bleeping, but still it's good to know.)

There was quite a bit of discussion about Jack's sexuality and whether he'd be readily accepted here in the States. Obviously the crowd that was there was fine with it. It will be interesting to see how it plays to a larger audience. Someone did ask when there was finally going to be a team orgy. Noel Clark said he was starting to write the ep right then and there.

Finally, we got a mini-spoiler about the first ep of Season 2. I cut because I love. )

I'll have pics and descriptions of the booths tomorrow sometime. I bought a Captain Jack doll as well as the Regeneration set of the Doctors. They may end up in some compromising photos together by the end of the weekend. One never knows.
