Back to the NCIS Jabber

I have a theory about what may happen in a couple of the upcoming episodes based on spoilers that have been floating around. It's just a theory, but since it's based on the spoilers DO NOT CLICK IF YOU'RE AVOIDING THEM! TURN BACK NOW!

So during a run up to the season finale, we're evidently supposed to get quite a bit of TIVA (I think I threw up a little even typing the smooshing) stuff going on. The spoilers have been purposefully vague as to how far it goes, but there is a mention of a triangle with Tony, Ziva and Michael (the guy from Israel). It also says that there's a bunch of angst and that there will be tragedy involved.

Another spoiler indicates that there will be an undercover Mossad agent posing as an arms dealer.

So here's my theory...Michael and Ziva were involved in Israel. She may even be in love with him, but decided to move on since she's been in the U.S. Tony and Ziva get close and either have sex or come close to it. Michael shows up in the picture during the case. Tony ends up shooting him, either by accident or because something goes wrong. This then completely destroys the chances of Tony and Ziva moving on happily ever after as a couple. It also creates tension moving into the next season.

An off-shoot of my theory that is a little more in the 'wishful thinking' category on my part at the moment is that Tony decides to leave the team because of this.

TPTB for the show are completely with enamored with cliff-hangers and love creating that type of drama that carries from one season to the next. I think Tony leaving the team (only temporarily though) is something that they might consider playing with. It would fall in line with some of the threads we've seen happening since Season 4 really.
So? What do ya'll think?

Hee! I love this twist. A mortally injured Tony cliffhanger would be GREAT! But only if he's not mortally injured after all and pulls through at the beginning of S7. And if there could be lots of Gibbs angst at his bedside that would make me a happy camper *g*.

I fear the Gibbs' bedside angst would appear only in fic. :-)

[identity profile] xanthelj.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
To be honest, that's all for the best. At least we'd do it right...*g*.

But MH does angst *so* damn well!

[identity profile] xanthelj.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
The actors would TOTALLY get it right. MH would be pitch perfect. It's the writers who'll mess it up.

And people wonder why MW improvises so often. :-)

Something like that could really pull the team apart or bring them closer together.

But not too much hand-wringing. I do get tired of the hand-wringing in H/C fic.

Some does take a while to get through, doesn't it?

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. Though, I do realize some folks love that, so y'know, go for it. I just prefer less than others (I have been known to fall head over heels with a 'hand-wringing' fic - it's all in the execution).

[identity profile] captain-tiv.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
When I've found the time, which really isn't often lately, I've been taking a gander at the NCIS fic on Fanfiction.net. There are a lot of stories that have Gibbs only wringing his hands when no one sees, being protective when anyone is near and being gruff/supportive/nice when Tony's awake but hurt. I have to admit I'm currently hooked on that particular characterization of Gibbs.

What I think of when I think of 'hand-wringing' fic is when large portions of real estate is given over to the parade of friends emoting all over the place but not actually *accomplishing* anything. I ran into so much of it in SG-1 fandom, that I think I'm overly sensitive now. ;-)

I feel an H/C essay coming on. :-)

Oooh! I love essays! Especially fic-related ones.

Let me further the twist....

I read a rumor (no proof, just someone speculating) that we'd get to see Ziva's dad at the end of the 6th season. What if dear old dad isn't happy that Gibbs killed Ari (at least, that's what he's been told) and has found a way to exact revenge? He decides to go after Tony, Gibbs' "son?" Michael's introduction to Ziva, his coming to the States, his posing as an arms dealer -- all of it geared to get Michael close enough to Tony to kill him so Daddy David could hurt Gibbs?

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Daddy David strikes me as far too cold to care that much.

On the other hand, he's also calculating, so who knows? He might be more likely to order Tony's death to keep his daughter from continuing to embarrass herself over him. :-)

[identity profile] captain-tiv.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
When was the last time the team got to go nose to nose with a really cold, calculating schemer? I'd love to see something like that. :)

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
The last *effective* cold, calculating schemer was Ari. :-) I don't count Boone because he was just nuts. :-)

[identity profile] captain-tiv.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Even Rene Benoit, charming and calculated, wasn't cold and calculating. In fact, he was very personable.

Which episode was Boone in?
ext_3440: (Default)

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Rene was a man who, I think had come to regret many of the choices in his life. He wouldn't have been approachable by the CIA if he hadn't.

Boone was the serial killer whose attorney followed in his footsteps and tried to kill Paula.

[identity profile] captain-tiv.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
I liked Paula. She was a really good character. I wish they hadn't killed her off.

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. I think she died well, but yeah.

So nice to see Jessica Steen on Flashpoint. :-) She was my favorite Weir, too. :-)

[identity profile] captain-tiv.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
They should have kept her as Weir.

I love it! It's a much better plot than the writers will come up with though *g*.
