NCIS - Power Down

I have to say that this was the first episode this season that came even close to feeling like *my* NCIS. There was an actual case that they were solving and it didn't have anything personal to do with any of the team. While there were tiny snippets between various team members, there were no 'long, meaningful glances' to sit through.

The plot was interesting but not convoluted. There were a couple of smallish quibbles, but no glaring plot canyons. I even liked the NSA lady. I feel like I should send the writers a thank-you card for not tossing in any flirting or jealousy with her. That being said, I'd love to see her again at a later point.

Gibbs felt more like Gibbs in this episode too. As a side note, do we ever see him get as up close and personal when he sneaks up behind someone as he does with Tony? I love that Gibbs is sneaking up right on top of him again. We also got to see his quirky personality with his bad jokes and references. I've missed that so much.

Speaking of Tony...He was definitely less annoying in this episode (though still a bit juvenile) but I feel like the writers still missed an opportunity when they decided to go the whining route with him. Tony has always been the epitome of an old-school cop. While I get him being a bit soft and relying on his cell phone etc... I still think it's something that could have been highlighted a bit better. Nevertheless, given how bad things have been lately, I'm not going to bitch about that.

JIMMY! We finally got Jimmy again. I loved the interaction between him and Tony too.

McGee's retribution of Tony's teasing was finally of a proportionate nature. I'm really trying not to get to hopeful though that this might mean the writers have finally found some sort of balance. Props to him for the TARDIS reference as well.
