Self-pimping a New Community

A new community is now open. ncisficrecs It's pretty much what the name says. A community for recommending NCIS fanfiction.

Volunteers can sign up to recommend specific categories (specific characters or pairings) each month and then will be asked to recommend a minimum of 4 stories in their category.

It's a great way to share the fandom love and put a spotlight on some fic that might go by unnoticed, or some older ones that newer readers in the fandom may not have noticed yet.

Please note that members will not have access to post to the community unless it is their month for rec'cing. Feel free to comment on one of the admin posts if you have questions though.

Feel free to share and pimp the love.

I just baffle at what some folks post in comms like that. I get if you want to vent on your own LJ, because, well it's yours (in the generic sense of course) but unless you're going to tell me that you're deeding me that stash of yarn? Ummm...kinda don't care

Hey, there! I considered doing something similar for the Numb3rs fandom, based on some comms in due South, but I wasn't sure how it would work for a small fandom. I'd be interested to know how it goes for you with this comm, if you don't mind sharing your mod experience with me down the road.

I'm thinking it may be a bit slow in the beginning, but hopefully will pick up. I was thinking that Numb3rs oculd use one too. If I had been thinking far enough ahead, we could have combined the two.

I'll let you know how it goes and what works and doesn't.

(I just see the smaller fandoms like NCIS and CSI and Numb3rs getting swallowed up in larger rec comms.)
